A practical, fast-deploying anti-slip treatment for a silo access walkway that had become hazardous in wet and dusty conditions — now being rolled out to further walkways across the site.
A silo access walkway had become extremely slippery during wet and dusty conditions, creating a significant slip, trip and fall hazard for personnel accessing the area. DEVA Maintenance assessed the existing surface, the external environment and the operational conditions affecting the walkway. Working with site management and the Health & Safety team, we identified a practical solution that could be implemented quickly while remaining cost-effective and suitable for the demanding environment.
A proven industrial anti-slip coating system was selected for its high level of grip and resistance to water, chemicals and powder contamination. The existing walkway surface was thoroughly prepared before being primed and professionally coated to ensure strong adhesion and long-term durability.
Following completion, the walkway was tested after both a heavy downpour and a significant powder blowout. Despite the extreme conditions, the treated surface continued to provide substantial grip and a considerable improvement in walkway safety. Following the successful result, the customer has requested that the same treatment is now applied to a further eight silo walkways across the site.
A practical 6S and changeover improvement project within a high-volume manufacturing facility — bespoke mobile shadow boards brought tools and change parts to the point of use, reducing search time and supporting faster, more repeatable changeovers.
